PRESIDENT'S LETTER: OCTOBER 2008
Dear Once and Future Members:

The Board of Trustees met on Wednesday evening, October 22, 2008, at the Waltz Building. You may download the agenda as a word document HERE. We approved the Waltz Building Committee's recommendation to contract with Sonia Rahm as the new Rental Manager. Long time volunteer, Marilyn Willard, who nurtured a growing rental business for the facility is stepping down after who knows how many trips from Seattle to make the room ready for the next renter. Thank you Marilynn!

A survey taken during the Home Tour last month was presented and it revealed that the event does not draw as many visitors from outside the Snohomish area as we have always imagined. We also learned that while many appreciated the historical theme of following one architect's work, most visitors wanted to see more interiors. To this end, I am establishing an ad hoc committee of community members who will help find the homes and encourage the owners to open them for the tour. If you have an interest in helping out brainstorming about beautiful homes, let me know and I will put you in touch with our Treasurer Penny O'Connell who has agreed to organize this effort.

Attendance was down this year, due some to the economy, but most of all to the rainy day. The Chamber of Commerce, which produced the Car Show on the following weekend had a glorious day of warm sunshine and broke all attendance records for their long running event.

A Round Table Discussion with Anne Eason on October 8 at the Waltz Building was will attended and all were will rewarded with remembrances of Anne's days on the city council in the early 1970s. The discussion with Council Member Karen Guzak was recorded on videotape for the archives and excerpts will be available online soon.
